Franchisee Spotlight: Nick Washmuth

Franchisee Spotlight: Nick Washmuth

Nick Washmuth has always had a passion for fitness and health. After graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s of science, Nick went on to receive his Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy and then Clinical Doctorate in Manual Physical Therapy. He practiced physical therapy around St Louis for seven years before relocating to Birmingham in August this year for his wife’s career.

Nick is currently a core faculty member in the physical therapy department at Samford University, and is working on developing the university’s first physical therapy program. Upon receiving their accreditation, the faculty will have their first cohort of students in 2015, and Nick hopes to eventually use his future gym for field trips.

How did you learn about Workout Anytime?
I was looking to open my own physical therapy practice or a start-up gym, but with my inexperience in running a business, a franchise seemed like the best fit. I got in touch with Steven Elliott who happens to be a good friend of mine from college as well as WORKOUT ANYTIME’s Area Developer for Alabama, and I saw the success and fun he was having with his business.

What are your future development plans?
I want to saturate the market. There’s room for 10-15 gyms in the area.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

People with fresh resolutions are wasting no time hitting the treadmills. But what's keeping them going?

Its 10:30 a.m. on New Year's Day and gym goers are ready to break a sweat.

"I was motivated, I got up, and I said ‘Here I am,'" one woman said.

This will be one of the busiest weeks of the year for fitness centers.

"Most definitely we're going to be picking up every day from here on out through about February, March," Tim Webster, the general manager of Workout Anytime, said.

And according to Webster, for a lot of people, just showing up at his place is a great first step.

"You made the toughest step coming in through that front door. The rest of it is easy now," he said.

And keeping that determination throughout the year is only a matter of focusing on what you want changed.

"Once you find out what those goals are, it's easier to hone in on them. And okay, I know where I want to start you off. ‘I want to lose the mid-section,' we need to start you on our cardio," Webster said.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- How's this for a transformation? A man goes from running Domino's Pizza franchises in Tennessee and Kentucky to operating a workout facility in Huntsville.

But it's true. Not only did Greg Powers have eight Domino's Pizza stores, he also had a couple of car washes and a storage facility.

He still has a car wash but no Domino's franchises. His focus is now Workout Anytime at 4925 University Drive.
